Lower East Side

Right here our company Lower East was founded, at the corner of Clinton Street and Rivington Street. The date is November 4th 2008. A nice dinner at "Inoteca" on Rivington. The last red wine kisses the lips, the red/white checkered napkin softly dries the same lips. Hectic activity in the streets outside; people running, mobile phones ringing, loud voices. A young and very exited man comes into the restaurant shouting "we won, we won". He runs back to the streets. We follow him. Lower East Side is boiling – we are dragged into a bar. Obama, the new president, appears on CNN on a big screen, the diverse crowd in the bar shouts and cries at the same time. Together. This is a new beginning.

Later. In the streets again. The atmosphere, the exitement is crawling under our skin. Watching ourselves dancing together with thousands of New Yorkers with our hands raised “Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can“. Right there, our company Lower East is born.
